Utilizing plants for their healing properties is nothing new.

People have been using plants for medicinal purposes for years. It's probably one of the reasons the essential oil business is booming right now.

While I don’t use them exclusively, I am a huge fan of natural products. It’s probably the reason I love Korean beauty products so much - discovering new ingredients sourced from foreign plants or animals (snail secretion anyone?). All that aside, I regularly use both arnica and aloe for a variety of reasons, which is why they are two of my faves.

Aloe Vera

Best known as a skin soother for sunburns, this plant is also used for wound healing, acne, skin inflammations, itchy or dry skin, and diaper rash to name a few. I love using it after skin treatments as a way to lessen inflammation; moisturize dry, itchy skin; and speed up healing.

Nature Republic Aloe Vera Gel

If you watch my IG stories, you know that every time I get “The Eraser” (more on that next week), I use aloe the first two days after treatment. This KBeauty product is my miracle gel. It eases inflammation while soothing and moisturizing my skin, allowing my skin to focus on healing and renewal. And at under $10, it’s easy to keep on hand for any skin emergency that pops up.

Benton Aloe BHA Skin Toner

After spending a week in Florida, my parched skin was begging for help. Luckily, this green bottle came to the rescue, providing skin relief with Aloe, gentle exfoliation with BHA, and added hydration with snail secretion filtrate. Yep, snail secretion, but don’t kid yourself; the star ingredient is Aloe which the Benton brand used in three different forms - water, extract and leaf juice to provide ultimate skin soothing and healing properties. And seeing that it’s alcohol free, this toner is good for daily use. Boom!

Arnica

The first time I used Arnica, it was on my 6 month old baby. She started crawling and head bombed straight into our wooden floor, giving her a massive bump on her forehead. After icing it, my babysitter mentioned putting arnica on the area to help with bruising. And the rest is history.

Boiron Arnica Gel

In addition to bumps, bruises and muscle pain, I always use arnica after micro needling and Botox injections to reduce healing time of artificial bruises. My family uses this brand exclusively, but I personally love this serum for skin treatments.
